ABOUT
We are a team of 5 Master's students from the Mechanical and Aerospace department at the University of Strathclyde currently studying abroad as part of the Erasmus exchange program. We will be working with the Institut für Thermodynamik der Luft- und Raumfahrt at Universität Stuttgart working solely on a Master's project from September 2018 until December 2018.
MEET THE TEAM
Andrew is a 5th year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Strathclyde. Before moving to Stuttgart, Andrew completed an in-depth feasibility study on the use of self-healing materials for high performance composites as part of his fourth year individual project.

As Project Leader, Andrew will oversee the project as a whole. He is responsible for allocating tasks and ensuring they are completed on time. He is in charge of managing any risks throughout the project and carrying out contingency plans if required. Andrew will also be heavily involved the modelling stage; using Open Cascade. Out with his studies, Andrew enjoys being active and keeping fit.
Project Leader
ANDREW BELL
Lewis is studying his final year at the University of Strathclyde. In fourth year Lewis’ individual project comprised of a detailed guide to district heating, a low carbon technology used to provide space heating and domestic hot water to dwellings. Lewis oversaw the CHP network which is currently being built on Strathclyde campus and looked at real life data in gas and electricity demand that the network would need to provide to the multitude of building types on the campus.
With regards to the 5th year project, Lewis is solely responsible for the meshing of the heat exchanger geometry and fluid. The mesh will ultimately calculate the outputted results in this project. In addition, Lewis will manage the social media of the project, providing regular updates on the team’s progress and daily life in Stuttgart.

LEWIS CARROLL
Arthur is in his Final Year at the University of Strathclyde studying for a Master’s in Aero-Mechanical Engineering. He has extensive experience of group work, from being Project Leader in the Third Year BMFA Plane Build, which resulted in a fully functioning, flying aircraft to working within the Chassis Team in the USEV (University of Strathclyde Eco Vehicle), assisting in the design and manufacture of components.
As Administration Manager, Arthur is in charge of the organisation for the project, from time keeping, to managing documents and ensuring that they are presentable and ready on time for submission deadlines.
Administration Manager
ARTHUR KELLY
Fraser is a 5th year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Strathclyde. Before travelling to Stuttgart Fraser completed an in-depth study on the ability to detect the de-bonding of hybrid composite repair patches on metallic structures. Away from academia Fraser enjoys keeping active and all manners of sport.
As Technical Manager, Fraser will be overseeing all technical decisions and ensure the technical content of the project is correct at each stage. Fraser will have the roll of ensuring each of the technical aspects of the project overlap and tie together. Fraser will also be heavy involved in the geometry of the heat exchanger cell using OpenCascade.
Technical Manager
FRASER MONAGHAN BRASH
Calum is in his 5th year studying mechanical engineering at the University of Strathclyde. Prior to coming to Stuttgart he completed his dissertation comparing human performance to the use of macros for increasing efficiency in Finite Element Analysis. Outside of university Calum engages in several sports and enjoys all manner of fitness activities.

His role as management secretary requires him to keep detailed records of the progress made by the group members, and take minutes on all advisor and group meetings. He is also heavily involved in the project’s OpenFOAM simulations.
