During Week 2, the team began to research the background of the project and we started tutorials on OpenFOAM. Progress was made on learning basic commands and how the software works.

Unfortunately, OpenCascade and CFMesh are not installed within the university computers. Sebastian has chased up the university administrator to get both programmes onto the system by next week. This has hampered our learning of both programmes slightly however the team has adapted to the situation; instead creating a simple geometry on a laptop that can then be converted into OpenFOAM as an .stl file.

At our advisor meeting, the Statement of Purpose was agreed and finalised with Sebastian. We discussed the software issues and our progress using OpenFOAM.

Every Friday Afternoon the team have agreed to have a update meeting to discuss the progress throughout the week and the next steps required for the following week. The next steps are detailed below.

Next Steps:

1. Convert Solidworks geometry into OpenFOAM; mesh using BlockMesh and run for practice.

2. Investigate appropriate initial parameters for the simulation.

3. Complete advanced tutorials in OpenFOAM.

4. Chase up software issues.
