During Week 5 the team made the main preparations for the Interim Report due at the end of the month. This report outlines the project scope, the project methodology, how the project is managed and how we are working as a team. It is a 15-page report that will be submitted next Wednesday. The team have also recently revealed our new logo and team name: OpenSTRATH. The logo takes its inspiration from the Stuttgart TV Tower, the first TV tower of its kind ever built.

Within the modelling aspect of the project, tutorials and exercises have been completed to better understand how the software works and learn the coding language Python better. The meshing team are now in a good position to begin practicing modelling basic shapes in the new few weeks and them improving the model towards the final geometry required for simulation.
The meshing team continued to work on the 3-block model to refine the mesh using snappyHexMesh which was completed. The next step will be to work on a more complex geometry. As the modelling are not ready to complete a geometry that can be meshed, the meshing team will create a simple geometry that resembles the final model from Solidworks and then mesh this to gain additional practice.
The solving team have been working on the making the solid and fluid cyclic in the simulation. This process is one of the longest steps in the whole process and the aim is to have this completed on a 2-block model by the end of next week.
