We started the project with an introductory meeting with our project advisor, Dr Sebastian Spring. He proposed two different project options. The first being to design a cooling structure for a CPU and the second being to simulate an automated workflow for a ribbed heat exchanger using open source software. University specific documentation were completed at the meeting as well.

After research of both topics the team decided to go with the ribbed exchanger project using open source software.

Once this was decided, we began to plan what would be required from the project and how we were going to complete all tasks. All team members completed the Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test and Jungian 16-Type Personality Test to see what roles would suit each individual best. Team roles were decided from using the results and also by group discussion to see what everyone's preference was.

A Statement of Purpose was also drafted which will act as an agreement between the team and Sebastian. This was sent to Sebastian to lookover before the next meeting.

The rest of the week was used to develop our knowledge on the software we would be using and to get familiar with using the Linux operating system.
