On Friday 2nd November, the team went to the Vfb Stuttgart versus Eintracht Frankfurt football game at the Mercedes Benz Arena in Stuttgart. Having booked the tickets from the fan shop a couple of weeks previous, the team were looking forward to the sell-out game.
The Mercedes Benz Arena or formally known at Neckarstadion is split into 4 sections: Haupttribrune (main stand); Karcher-Tribune (opposite stand); Cannstatter Kurve and the Untertürkheimer Kurve. The Cannstatter Kurve is occupied by the devoted home fans and has a large standing section behind the goal.
The stadium went under major construction to make the stadium a pure football arena; removing the athletics track and bringing the stands in closer to the pitch. This was a huge engineering venture, but the result has meant the atmosphere for home games has improved as fans are closer to the action.
Even though the team were optimistic about VfB Stuttgart’s chances against Eintracht Frankfurt, from the start Frankfurt out played and dominated the game. After a flurry of clear chances for Stuttgart, Frankfurt opened the scoring in the 11th minute and then doubled their lead in the 32nd minute for a 2-0 half-time lead.
The second half was very much the same and a late Frankfurt goal meant that they won 3-0 away from home and left VfB Stuttgart bottom of the Bundesliga.
Despite the result, the team enjoyed the game and atmosphere and we would highly recommend going to watch a game in Stuttgart.
